Absolute Mind of Non–Conceptualization

The Absolute Mind is a State of Emptiness beyond concepts and language (the thinking mind).

Arica School

A School of Knowledge, founded by Oscar Ichazo in 1968, presents a complete way to clarify and transcend lower behaviors and to enter the higher State of Enlightenment.

Awakening the Witness

The Witness is a function of the Absolute Mind, a Mind of Emptiness, that observes the Relative Mind of Concepts and Language from an objective point of view through ways of Self–observation, the higher teachings the Absolute State, and meditational practices.

Divine

A term pertaining to the nature of the Supreme Ultimate Presence of All Creation that, in Integralism, refers to higher States of Mind, Ideas or Deities.

Divine Forms

The Divine Forms, also known as the “Divine Ideas,” are Perfect, Eternal, Unchanging Truths, which are an essential and fundamental basis of Oscar’s ‘Body of Knowledge.’

Divine Principles of Consciousness

The nine Divine Principles are Higher States that describe Ultimate Reality. They are presented with eight aspects of Negative Theology to depict the nature of the Divine. Together the eight points culminate in the ninth point of the highest Principle of the State of All–Consciousness.

Domains of Consciousness

All aspects of society can be found in the nine Domains, providing the intentions and motives that are fundamental for our ordinary and the totality of life to manifest. The Enneagrams of the Domains are presented in The Original Arica Trainings.

Doors of Compensation

Nine specific ways we compensate for inevitable stresses in our lives, which become dysfunctional behaviors. The Enneagrams of the Doors of Compensation are presented in The Original Arica Trainings.

Ego–reduction

Ego–reduction, in the Integral Teachings, is the process by which the ego is recognized and analyzed to the point that it is reduced in its importance by the attained State of ‘Mind–only.’

Enneagram

An enneagram is a nine–pointed figure that represents a complete cycle. The enneagram was first used in Western culture and developed by Oscar into a complete theory of human psychology and the map to attain the Higher States of enlightened Knowledge. Enneagrams are used extensively in the teachings and trainings of the Arica School.

Eyes of Karma Ceremony

A ritual ceremony presented in the Nine Hypergnostic Systems training to reconcile and release unresolved emotional and mental blocks that obscure a happy, fulfilled life.

Fire Exercise

A moving meditation taught in the Nine Hypergnostic Systems training that builds internal vitality (chi) and focus, with the outcome of a quiet mind.

Five Anatomical Cavities

The five anatomical cavities are the pelvic, abdominal, thoracic, cranial, and dorsal cavities. These five cavities are the five different Centers of Attention are original and used extensively in Oscar’s teachings. They are awakened during meditation and physical exercises and are also associated with the five Elements of Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and Space, respectively.

Five Realms of Existence and Knowledge

The Vital, Social, Emotional Moral, Mental, and Spiritual Realms are the five areas of human experience, correlated with the five anatomical cavities. They arise from the scientifically–based, material body and are the grounds for the States of the higher Divine Minds to manifest.

Fixations

The Fixations are the nine distinct ego–structures or patterns presented in an enneagram that become fixated in early childhood, which are the basis of repetitive and mechanical behavior and suffering in life.

Four Functions of Reality

The Four Functions of Reality are the principal fields of activities upon which human life exists and manifests. They manifest as wealth, power, fame, and honor. The Enneagrams of the Functions are presented in The Original Arica Trainings.

Humanity One

By awakening the State of Unity through meditation and the embodiment of transcendental Knowledge, the experience of being one with all humanity arises; in Integral Philosophy, Oscar called “Humanity–One,” the State of a united humanity.

Hypergnostic

From the Greek hyper (beyond/higher) and gnosis (knowledge); meaning transcendental or higher knowledge.

Innate Awareness

The natural Awareness (State of Enlightenment) inside every human being that is awakened through the Integral meditations, transcendental teachings, and the higher rituals of Integralism into this State.

Integral Philosophy

Oscar’s Integral Philosophy integrates metaphysics, theology and science into the study of the primordial question of what Ultimate Reality is. Integral Philosophy presents a ‘body of knowledge’ that is a cohesive and united system.

Integral Virtues

The nine Integral Virtues and Ethics are actual forces indispensable for entering into the Higher States of meditation, the outcome of which is the attainment of an enlightened, moral energy.

The principles and doctrines of Oscar’s Integral Philosophy.

K’a

A K’a is a specialized, hand–held tool used in the Chua Ka Bodywork® massage practice to apply pressure, release muscular/emotional tension, and conduct vital energy into the bones.

Kath Point

It is the center of equilibrium and vitality located in the core area of the body (Chin. tan t’ien, Jap. hara). Being aware of your breathing and your Kath point during everyday life, exercise or meditation, will open an enhanced and stabilized awareness and vitality throughout your entire organism.

Levels of Consciousness

The Levels of Consciousness training is the study of the nine lower Levels of the human psyche, founded upon the subjectivity of the lower ego, and the nine higher Levels of the human psyche that establish the objectivity that leads into a higher enlightened State. The Levels training is included in The Original Arica Trainings.

Mantram

Syllables, sounds or phrases repeated intentionally to focus the mind and open the heart into higher spiritual States.

Metaphysics

The study of the basic structures between mind and matter, and the nature of reality and existence.

Mind of Emptiness

A State of Mind beyond language and concepts (the thinking mind), known in Integralism as the “Absolute Mind of Non–conceptualization.”

Protoanalysis®

The Arica Protoanalytical Theory (Protoanalysis) describes the totality of the human mind through which all psychic processes occur. Protoanalysis means the first (proto) analysis and is essential for clarifying the obscurations or blocks to a happy, fulfilling life.

The Desert

A dedicated time of solitude and Self–observation included in the Nine Hypergnostic Systems training.

The Work

Refers to the trainings and meditational practices and study of the teachings within the Integral System and participation in the practices.

Theosis

A Greek word that means “Union with God.” Theosis is used throughout Oscar’s Teachings when he refers to the State of Enlightenment.

Three Fundamental Questions

“Why is there sadness? Why does anger exist? Why is there fear?” These are the fundamental inquiries into the roots of suffering, as related to the three Instincts.

Three Instincts

The three Instincts are the basic ground of all our psychic processes and are the basis upon which the Fixations are established; each Instinct responds to alive questions.

Trialectics

From Oscar’s theory of the logic of cycles, the ‘Principles of Trialectics’ or ‘Integral logic,’ are the laws of the mind that describe the nature of change and apparent duality, and their orientation toward or away from Unity.

Trifix™

A configuration of three fixated egos: a major ego–Fixation and two minor ego–Fixations, one from each of the Instincts: Conservation, Relation and Adaptation.

Universal Logos®

The School Symbol or the Universal Logos® is the main yantra (meditational illustration) in the Arica School and represents the metaphysical ground which awakens our Eternal Divine Mind.

Yantras

Yantras are meditation illustrations that present objective forms and colors or meditational deities. Yantras are used to focus our attention by taking us beyond our Relative Mind of subjective thought–processes. The energy generated by the yantras is directly embodied by our Higher Self.
